By the mid-1980s, STIHL was rapidly expanding our product line and, as a result, STIHL dealers were growing their customer base. These were the years when we became much more than a chainsaw company. The introduction of our growing line of trimmers, blowers and other yard care products, helped to ignite the growth in the professional landscaper market, which led to further growth opportunities for servicing dealers.
As our product line expanded, so did the need for knowledgeable service, both on the sales floor and in the technical service department. Dealer meetings focused on product training and technical update schools were the norm in the early months of each year. Top dealers began to work on increasing efficiency and effectiveness in their shops and increased their focus on product knowledge in the showroom. 

Dealer Employee Education Event

Our Third Decade Event “Innovating Service” celebrates the employees of STIHL Dealers who are the point of contact with STIHL consumers every day.  Since Knowledgeable Service is a key factor that differentiates STIHL dealers from mass merchants, we will reward STIHL SOUTHWEST Dealer employees who increase or refresh their knowledge of STIHL products.

 Whatever department you work in, if you work with STIHL products and STIHL customers, you can compete to win one of 50 daily prizes plus the grand prize:  a STIHL chain saw or STIHL wardrobe, your choice!
To qualify, complete STIHL iCademy training modules with 100% test scores between Aug 1 and Nov 9.  For 50 business days,

beginning Sept 1, we will randomly select a winner.  After 50 days, we’ll select the grand prize winner from all of the remaining entries.  Each test that you successfully complete will provide one or more entries in the contest so the more test modules you complete, the more chances you have to win a prize.  And if you are Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum qualified, you’ll get extra entries automatically. This is a great time to get Bronze or Silver qualified, if you are not already.

Dealer Meeting Mug

This mug is from our 1995 Dealer Meeting, which was held in Hot Springs, AR, at the Arlington Hotel and featured a dinner aboard the Belle of Hot Springs on beautiful Lake Hamilton.


Belt Buckles

This large and intricately detailed belt buckle was the perfect addition to a gentleman's 1980's style. The always-popular STIHL saw chain belt buckle was a more subtle announcement of your brand affiliation.

From the 1980's when placing your order via fax was the ultimate in high technology. The oil cans feature one of our old logos.


1995 Dealer Meeting Goody BaG

At our 1995 meeting, we spent time in three different locations: tours of the STIHL Southwest building, demonstrations on the lawn of Ouachita Technical College and presentations at the Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs. When we gathered at the Arlington for our Awards Banquet, we inducted the first members of the Masters' Club. This award was given to dealers who had been in the top 10 in STIHL purchases for three years or longer. Winners received a navy dress jacket with the Masters' Club logo embroidered in gold.


60th Anniversary Ball Cap

This ball cap commemorates the 60th Anniversary of STIHL, which was celebrated at STIHL locations worldwide in 1986.
